Welcome to Oakwood Yoga

Namaste and wishing you are very warm welcome to these pages.  I really hope you find something of interest,  do have a good browse, if you need any help, please get in touch.

Where on earth has this month gone!  I really hope you have been having time to enjoy the flush of Spring, warmer and lighter days and all the uplifting colours.  I thought there was very little in my garden but the front has been a joy and although I didn’t get daffodils in until January they have flowered and the narcissi are so delicate in aroma.  Thank you Mother Nature.

March is always special for me as I complete a cycle of birth!  This year it is even more special and because of that I will not be holding classes on 31st March or 1st April.  There will be an extra zoom class on 2nd April at 0900 to 1030, free!  So hopefully some of you will make it to that one.

Last week the newsletter went out…but if you were late subscribing to it, it is available in Our News above.

Stay well and happy and hopefully see you Wednesday 2nd or the following week.

Love and OMs xx

Key Dates

30th August – Yoga Retreat Day.  Kathy and I are in the early stages of planning this and it will be a fund raiser for Nepal.  Do let me know if you wish to be added to the attendee list.

If you have never been to one of my classes before, please complete the Oakwood Yoga Health Form and EMAIL it to me prior to joining a class.  When I receive it I will send you the payment methods…please pay prior to class.  If you are a new student we also need to arrange a 15 min call.

“It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold, when it is summer in the light and winter in the shade.” ~ Charles Dickens

Nepal Update

Our visit to Nepal in November 2024 was amazing as usual.  We managed to take out some money and childrens shoes and clothes for the families that lost their homes and whole livlihoods after the floods in September.   A massive thank you to everyone who donated and helped.

Our trek took us to the base camp of Makalu…5th highest mountain in the world.  It was a tough walk, so many steps, but the views and company made it so worthwhile.  Two of our team have summited Everest 15 times between them!  The youngest memeber of our team is hoping to join the Everest climbing teams but has to learn English and get all his climbing certificates.  We managed to get enough money to give him English lessons for a year.  And I have said we will sponsor him  – as long as does the work – in getting the climbing certificates.  So if anyone can offer this young man some help do get in touch. He is only 18 and doesn’t have parents or siblings to help support him.

In 2025 there are some friends who wish to go to Makalu who couldnt do it this year.  So if you are thinking of trekking and would like a real adventure to an area still largely unspoilt, please get in touch.  The only way in is by foot or helicopter!!  It was stunning.

Classes

Teaching yoga is a huge priviledge, and I strongly believe in the benefits it brings to our overall well being. What I love as well is that yoga does not discriminate.  No matter what level your experience, how well or poorly you are, yoga is available to us all.

I offer live group classes in Darley Abbey, Allestree, Belper and Fritchley.

There are two zoom classes a week and a zoom meditation class.

If you perfer a class to help develop your practice or because you don’t feel comfortable coming to a group class, I do also offer 121 sessions.

New for 2025, I will also be offering Sound Healing sessions.  These are 121 and I use Tibetan Singing Bowls.  I will also be offering Tibetan Bowl Massage sessions too.

Resources

This section is all about sharing things we do in class or on retreat or through our masterclass work. There will be recordings from time to time as well. Feel free to share…just let people know where it came from!

Nepal Update

Not exactly the tree you would see in Nepal but I love coastal redwoods as much as I love Nepal.  One day I will get to see the real big ones…hopefully.
I will be bringing an update soon…as I am off to the village.  So excited to be seeing everyone again!

Huge thanks for your continued support.  It makes such a massive difference.
